Massimo Carraturo
Massimo Carraturo is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture (DICAr) of the University of Pavia. Prof. Carraturo received his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bologna in 2013 and his M.Sc. in Computational Mechanics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in 2016. In 2020 he received a joint Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and Architecture from the University of Pavia and TUM. His research activity focuses on numerical simulations for Additive Manufacturing and, in particular, on Laser-based Powder Bed Fusion of Metals (PBF-LB/M) process and product simulations using advanced numerical techniques such as immersed boundary methods for which he has developed, implemented, and validated thermal and thermomechanical models at different physical scales. He has several international collaborations among which NIST, BAM, EPFL, WIASS Institute, and NTNU. He is author of 19 articles on international journals and 3 books chapters.
