62 Study of aluminium alloy 7075 produced by additive friction stir deposition: implementation, microstructure, mechanical properties

This study characterizes a wall made of 7075 alloy produced using the Additive Friction Stir Deposition process. The deposited material exhibits a fine, equiaxed microstructure, free of porosity, with variable hardness in the as-built state and homogeneous hardness after T6 treatment. Precipitates are coarse and concentrated at grain boundaries before heat treatment, then refined and uniformly distributed after T6. Mechanical properties are significantly improved post-treatment, although anisotropy is observed in elongation. The MELD process shows promising potential for manufacturing with 7075 alloy.
