Dr. Mahdi Chemkhi is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and the Head of the Additive Manufacturing Platform (FabAddLab) at the EPF School of Engineering in France. He has a strong background in mechanical engineering and materials research. He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the School of Science and Technology of Tunisia (ESSTT, now ENSIT) in 2008, followed by a master’s degree in mechanical systems and Materials Research from the University of Technology of Troyes (UTT) in France. In 2014, he earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Systems and Materials from UTT. Dr. Chemkhi is currently an Associate Researcher at the Laboratory of Mechanical and Material Engineering (LASMIS) and an invited member of its Research Unit Board. He has also served as an elected member of the Scientific and Administrative Council of UTT. Since 2017, he has been an elected member of the EPF Scientific Council and a member of the Digital Learning and Innovation team. His research focuses on metallic additive manufacturing, particularly the interplay between post-processing treatments, microstructure, and mechanical performance. He leads national and European projects on optimizing material behavior and structural reliability in additive manufacturing. Dr. Chemkhi is also the founder and co-head of the Sustainable Industrial Design engineering major at EPF, which integrates digital innovation, material efficiency, and eco-design principles into engineering education.
