Biography
David Plélan, welding engineer for Cetim based at Nantes. I am working on welding automation (robotic cells) with different kinds of process (MIG/MAG, TIG, …). I assist to company to implement robotic cells from the beginning of the project(selection of optimised workpiece) until the end (final acceptance of the equipment). I am working also on different kinds of project about WAAM technology, particularly with MAG process. The aim of these projects is to give key points to French industrial to implement WAAM technology in their plant. These key points are: material properties, workpiece qualification, additive manufacturing process specification, final acceptance of the equipment.

44 Manufacturing process and qualification of a functional addition using WAAM technology
Additive manufacturing, and in particular wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) technology, has been developing for many years through proof of concept (POC) [1] [2] and characterisation [3] [4]. Guidelines [5] [6] have been published and standards [7] have been adapted to this new technology. This study deals with the implementation of additive manufacturing of a hollow flange on a tube and the approach applied from its design to its manufacture and qualification.
